Core arrival checklist
Visa-free entry is nationality-specific
The Department of Foreign Affairs publishes a list of countries whose nationals can enter visa-free for a stay of 30 days or less. The traveller must hold a return or onward ticket and meet the passport-validity rule 1.
A passport from a country outside that list needs the appropriate visa before travel, subject to a narrow privilege that may apply to certain holders of third-country visas or residence permits 2.
Work, study, immigration and other long-term purposes have their own visa categories. Tourist admission does not authorize employment.
eTravel
The official eTravel FAQ requires arriving Filipino and foreign passengers and crew to register. It lists exceptions for foreign diplomats and dependants, foreign dignitaries and delegations, 9(e) visa holders, and holders of diplomatic or official or service passports 3.
Registration opens within 72 hours before arrival. The official site is free, and the traveller should save the QR code 3.
A green QR code supports health and declaration processing. It is not a visa and does not guarantee admission.
Special cases
| Traveller | Extra point to check |
|---|---|
| Visa-required national | Secure the correct visa before departure 2 |
| Indian national using 2025 privilege | Check passport, onward ticket and any required third-country visa or residence permit 2 |
| Child below 15 not accompanied by a parent | Waiver of Exclusion Ground process may apply 4 |
| Registered foreign resident | Valid visa and BI record checks apply on entry 5 |
| Balikbayan family member | Travel-together and nationality conditions control the privilege 4 |
What immigration can decide
A visa or visa-free privilege allows a traveller to seek admission. It does not create an unconditional right to enter.
BI may exclude a foreign national who is not properly documented or falls within a statutory exclusion ground. BI's FAQ gives public-charge, crime involving moral turpitude and documentation examples 4.
Carry accurate evidence for the actual trip. A false purpose or altered document can affect admission and later travel.
Use the rule for your passport
Entry privileges differ by nationality and may change. Check the Philippine foreign-service post responsible for the traveller's place of residence and the current BI issuance list.
Do not use another traveller's social-media checklist as proof. The passport, visa category, transit route and purpose must match the official rule for the individual trip.
